Jeremy Varner

Senior Pastor

On May 27 of 2009, Community Baptist Church unanimously voted for and called Reverend Jeremy Varner as its Senior Pastor.  Pastor Varner and his wife Allison have four Children, Faith 12, Luke 10, Karis 8 and Sarah 6 years old.  The Varner’s served in Salisbury NC for 8 1/2 years at Maranatha Bible Church, before being called to Community Baptist Church.  While there, Jeremy served as an Associate Pastor and worked with the Youth Group for a number of years.  Jeremy and Allison are both graduates of Piedmont International University in Winston Salem.

Jeremy has a B.A in Biblical Studies with a pastoral major. Jeremy also holds a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Luther Rice University.  He also studied at radio and television school for a short season.  He is a very gifted speaker and teacher.  While in Salisbury, Pastor Varner served as Campus Pastor at a local public high school and was very involved in discipleship with the schools Bible club.  He also has been the guest speaker at many local community and other evangelistic outreaches and retreats in various states across the U.S.

Allison’s degree is in early childcare and feels her gifts are in teaching preschool age children.  The Varner’s feel that much of their focus will be on evangelism, discipleship, and equipping the church with a balanced biblical approach.

Nate Deck

Youth Pastor

Nate grew up in Raleigh, NC as the son of two wonderful Word of Life Missionaries. It is this background that God used to develop his passion for ministry. With a Diploma in Biblical Studies from Word of Life Bible Institute and a B.S. in Education from Liberty University, God called Nathan and his High School Sweetheart Jessica to teach English at Word of Life in Germany. It is there that God further developed the passion in their hearts and after 2 years on the mission field led them back to the states to work with youth. They spent two and a half years at a church in Western North Carolina before God called their now family of 4 to serve at CBC.
